EMDR is a research backed therapy that helps your brain reprocess distressing memories so that they feel less overwhelming. I offer this type of therapy for the following client types:
People who feel stuck in anxiety, shame or negative core beliefs
People who feel like traditional talk therapy has not helped or they are still feeling triggered by traumatic memories
High functioning adults who still carry old wounds that have not been processed

EMDR sessions are structured, supportive, and paced to your comfort level.
After building grounding skills, we identify a specific memory or trigger to target. During the session you’ll use guided eye movements or tapping (bilateral stimulation) while noticing thoughts, feelings, or body sensations that arise.
You don’t have to relive the trauma in detail. Each session ends with grounding so you leave feeling steady and supported.

While EMDR has been found to be beneficial in a wide array of client types, within my current training, I currently do not provide this service for the following presentations:
People in active crisis
People with severe dissociation
Children
People who have seizures
If you fall into the above categories, please still feel free to reach out so I can provide you with resources on where to get care elsewhere or to see if I can provide you with an alternative therapy service.

Due to the sensitive nature of trauma processing, EMDR done wrong can definitely re-traumatize participants. While there is a certain level of expected emotional discomfort with safely done EMDR, I prioritize client safety and comfort from start to finish. My approach is gentle, paced and in accordance with EMDRIA protocols.
